Safety:
- Oakey is Tick Free Area – All owners must ensure pets do not enter the establishment carrying ticks from another area.
- There is NO bedroom type area where a pet can hide, and not be seen. All pets can be seen fully when we pass every Kennel and Cat unit – all day.
- No sharp edges to cause injuries that a pet can get caught up on.
- Dogs or Cats cannot intimidate each other with dividing brick walls between them.
Health & Hygiene:
- The Brick dividing wall stops all (urine and faeces from entering any another kennel)
- Each kennel is hosed from front to back, where all droppings enter into a drain at the rear of each kennel to be carried to the Septic System.
- If a pet entered the kennels with a urine infection for eg: it is “impossible” for other dogs to come in contact with the infection with “brick walls separating every animal”.
- We also looked to the future with the possibility of an “Exotic Disease” entering Australia. We fully believe that our kennels will pass the highest scrutiny from any Veterinary Surgeon if Rabies, Hardpad, etc. entered the country.
- The floor is concrete and has a 2-inch fall from front to back. This stops any urine “pooling” on the floor, and also ensures that the floor is dry in a very short period of time after hosing.
- Our kennels are fully weather proof.
- Vaccination’s Certificates are required.
- Special Diets catered for at extra cost.
Inside Heated Kennels for Winter:
- We do not recommend all dogs go into the fully heated area. Dogs of Husky type breeds that are NOT in artificial heating at home should not be kennelled in the heated area.
- 20 of our 30 Kennels are fully heated for the winter months.
- A small extra charge applies for the heating costs per day.
